Hereditary Cancer

Thank you for your interest in scheduling a genetic counseling appointment!

A risk assessment based on your personal and family history of cancer can determine if hereditary cancer genetic testing is appropriate for you. Considering both the benefits and limitations of genetic testing, the testing process and the possible test result types with a genetic counselor can help you make an informed decision about pursuing genetic testing.

If you already have an existing test result, genetic counseling provides a more in-depth understanding of how your test result impacts you and your family. Your genetic counselor may identify recommendations for preventative care and screenings while also providing emotional support. 94% of patients reported feeling more informed about their genetic test result after speaking with a Metis genetic counselor.

To provide you with the best and most appropriate service, please answer the following:

Which state will you be in for your appointment?
Many states have licensure requirements for genetic counseling and varying laws regarding the ordering of genetic tests. Knowing the state you will be located in helps us match you with a genetic counselor licensed in your state and maintain compliance with state law.
Do you already have a genetic test result?
NOTE: Based on current laws in the state you selected, our genetic counselors can recommend appropriate genetic testing for you to consider with your healthcare provider, but cannot order genetic testing directly.
Metis Genetics currently does not offer patient-direct genetic counseling services in the state you have selected, but we are adding more states based on interest!
Please provide your information in the form below and we will contact you when services are available.
You can also use the the National Society of Genetic Counselors Find a Genetic Counselor tool to locate a genetic counselor in your area, or contact us at support@metisgenetics.com for further assistance.
